Tragic details following last night’s fatal shooting in Surrey.
Police say the victim was killed trying to prevent a stranger from getting into his home.
RCMP Chief Superintendent Bill Fordy offered condolences to the family of 42-year-old Colin Hill.
“There’s no question that these are the most painful moments that a family can endure. For the police, they are also the hardest. And while we are confident that we have quickly taken the person responsible for this senseless crime into custody, I’m still angry.”
The shooting happened near 64th Avenue near 166th Street.
The 22-year-old suspect, who has yet to be named, has been charged with second-degree murder.
