Hundreds of people heading out to Vancouver International Airport yesterday had to deal with major traffic delays as shoppers flocked to the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Mall in Richmond.
Grant McConichee Way was clogged – bumper to bumper – as excited shoppers headed to the mall.
The airport’s VP of operations, Steve Hankinson, says it did affect some flights.
“We had over three hundred flight movements yesterday, and only three flights were impacted by delays of five to ten minutes.”
Hankinson says the airport has worked with Translink and the outlet mall to sort out traffic problems.
He’s expecting another flood of people in the next few days, and is asking people to leave extra time if you’re heading out to the airport.
