Transportation Minister Todd Stone says when it comes to dealing with the aftermath of last week’s failed transit tax plebiscite, there is no clear plan, and nothing’s going to happen overnight.
Stone says it’s really up to the Mayors’ Council to make sure the right kind of action plan is in place.
He says it’s more important to make sure the region’s transit plans are concrete.
“At the end of the day, the province has put one third of the capital on the table for a rapid transit expansion for the Pattullo bridge expansion – one third. And that’s the piece that, you know, I’m trying to make sure the people of the Lower Mainland
don’t lose sight of.”
Stone says he’s expecting to meet with Vancouver Mayor Gregor Robertson in the next few weeks to see where the mayors stand.
