Yesterday Delta closed 3 big parks because of the fire hazard.
Today, the District of North Vancouver is taking action.
“Due to the extreme heat and the dry conditions in our local parks and on the trails, the District of North Vancouver has now banned the use of all barbecues, charcoal and propane, in all District parks. And of course smoking is also banned in all parks and trails.”
Assistant Fire Chief Mike Cairns says like other Metro municipalities, they are dealing with an increase number of brush fires caused by discarded cigarettes, and it’s very frustrating.
