The B.C. Lions dropped their season opener on the road, losing to the Ottawa Redblacks 27-16.
The win gives Ottawa two in a row, a feat they didn’t accomplish in their inaugural season last year.
Former Lions receiver Ernest Jackson connected with quarterback Henry Burris for a ten-yard score, and Greg Ellingson secured a 30-yard touchdown pass to boost Ottawa to the win.
Travis Lulay delivered an uneven performance in his first regular season game since injuring his shoulder in Ottawa last September. He finished 18-for-32 for 246 yards and one touchdown, which found former NFL receiver Austin Collie.
The Lions return to host the Saskatchewan Roughriders in their home opener next Friday.
