Residents across metro Vancouver are being reminded leave the personal fireworks alone as they Celebrate Canada Day.
Because of the hot, dry weather fire departments around the region are not issuing any permits to set off personal fireworks.
Like other fire departments in the region, Asst Chief Dave Burgess with the District of North Vancouver, says in these conditions a small incident can escalate very quickly.
“We’re concerned about any open flames or open fires at this time from any source in the areas of parks and green belts.”
Burgess and his counterparts say you shouldn’t hesitate to call 9-1-1 if you hear fireworks being set off – or see any kind of fire that concerns you.
