How fast they turn.
Vancouver Canucks hockey fans, not all of you, some of you, are shameful.
Last year at this time, you were over the moon with the bold hiring of Trevor Linden as the President and Jim Benning as the General Manager. One year later, you want to run Benning out of town.
What did you think was going to happen with Eddie Lack? This GM made it clear early that there would be no goaltending controversy by looking to move Jacob Markstrom or Eddie Lack. Ryan Miller is Benning’s goalie for the next two years unless Markstrom unseats him or Miller goes in the tank.
There is a backlash out there on Benning for not getting enough for Lack. We knew Lack would fetch no better than a second round draft pick and as it turned out Benning received a high third and a seventh for the likeable goalie. That was fair value for a goalie that was undrafted and has yet to prove he can carry the load full time.
But enough about the goalies; this is about these ne’er do well fans, the leaches that suck the life from this team. It’s never good enough, and some of you are borderline sociopathic. The plan for this team was to get younger while still maintaining a competitive balance. How do you suppose that happens?
It happens by making tough decisions…and get ready there are more coming. This team showed in last year’s playoffs that the only way they get better is by infusing youth and speed in the lineup. The only way that happens is by trading what you have or developing thru the draft.
Take a moment and have faith in Jim Benning and Trevor Linden…one year in and they gave us some pretty good hockey. There is no such thing as a quick fix and if you truly were hockey fans, you’d have realized that already.
