A member of Canada’s women’s soccer team has taken to social media, blasting her critics.
Error lead to goal
Defender Lauren Sesselmann has been blamed for Canada’s FIFA World Cup quater-final loss on Saturday.
Her 11th minute fall helped England’s Jodie Taylor score the game opener, on that team’s way to a 2-1 victory.
An emotional Sesselmann made a post to her Instagram account early Monday.
“Yes, I slipped, yes they scored, and yes you can blame me all you want…but no one knows how hard I worked to get back from injury to be a part of this special team.”
“For all you classless people with your negative comments and threats, you know absolutely nothing.”
Sesselmann says mistakes are a part of life.
She finishes, thanking fans who supported the team through thick and thin, her friends and family, and saying she’s proud to play alongside her team mates.
