With summer in full swing, Downtown Vancouver seems determined to shake it’s reputation as a no-fun city.
Those in the city over the weekend are bound to notice a little extra buzz.
Saturday afternoon’s big world cup quarter final game involving Canada and England serves as just one piece of the puzzle.
Leigh Cornell and her friends came all the way from Boise, Idaho to compete in “City Chase,” a cross between a 10k run and an “Amazing Race” style competition.
“We’re really getting to know Vancouver, seeing parts of Vancouver we’ve never seen before and didn’t even know were on the map. We’re literally off our tourist map right now.”
Add to that the free Granville street busker fest, and a variety of free jazz festival events – plus three cruise ships in port — and it’s a recipe for the city humming for summer.
