This week, Kimberley City Council made a move by approving a business license to Tamarack Dispensary. Council voted unanimously to override Bylaw Number 1325 which states, “a business license will not be issued if the applicant does not meet the lawful requirements to carry on the business in question.”
The application had been previously denied, as it did not meet the lawful requirements.
As of today, Vancouver has become the first city in Canada to create bylaws for medicinal cannabis dispensaries, whereas Kimberley issued a business license under their current business bylaws.
