Singing superstar Taylor Swift is trying to take a bite out of Apple with an online letter she recently penned.
On her Tumblr page, the twenty-five year old singer/songwriter says she’s going to be withholding her album, 1989, from Apple’s new music streaming service, Apple Music.
Swift says she’s doing it to speak out against the fact that, according to Swift, Apple will not be paying the writers, producers or artists whose music is streaming on that service for its first three months.
Swift says that’s because of the free trial running for that same amount of time.
While some online have been quick to say that Swift is simply a ‘spoiled princess’ wanting to make a quick buck…
why is everything about money for taylor swift lol I hate artists like that you should want your music to reach as many people as possible

@taylorswift13 thanks for the open letter. But you don't understand what it's like to be a poor musician. Please don't act like you do.

…Swift says that isn’t the case.
This is not about me. Thankfully I am on my fifth album and can support myself, my band, crew, and entire management team by playing live shows. This is about the new artist or band that has just released their first single and will not be paid for its success. This is about the young songwriter who just got his or her first cut and thought that the royalties from that would get them out of debt. This is about the producer who works tirelessly to innovate and create, just like the innovators and creators at Apple are pioneering in their field…but will not get paid for a quarter of a year’s worth of plays on his or her songs.
A number of her fans – and non-fans – seem to agree.
Bravo to @taylorswift13 for the apple streaming letter. You are pretty badass…
