Whistler has long had a reputation for fun, but it seems some are having too much fun.
Dr. Paul Martiquet with Vancouver Coastal Health says the number of binge drinkers is on the rise.
“Whistler lives up to its reputation as a world class community; providing an excellent venue for outdoor activity and people are taking advantage of it. The unfortunate part is, after their strenuous exercise they are taking too many beers.”
At least in part, Dr. Martiquet blames new ‘relaxed’ provincial rules for the rise.–saying having liquors stores open on Sunday’s and in some cases lower prices, will not help people’s desire to drink less.
Binge Drinking is considered four or more drinks in one sitting for woman, or five or more drinks in one sitting for men.
