Dennis Barren with Coquitlam Fire says a blaze which ripped apart a home under construction on the 900-block of Porter and Como Lake was a fully-involved fire.
“There were residents in the neighbourhood who say they heard a large bang or boom and they came out and there was a ball of flames. The house was going pretty good.”
It also forced residents out of the adjacent homes, with one family’s house heavily damaged.
Barren says investigators will continue to survey the damage but it appears as though the fire is suspicious.
“It’s not assumed, but we don’t know because it wasn’t witnessed. There’ll be an investigation over the next couple of days here which’ll involve the insurance companies as well.”
No one was injured in the blaze, which took three fire units to extinguish.
