Two high school students are dead in nearby Whatcom county and two others are fighting for their lives after being struck by an SUV while out on a walk with their PE class.
Washington State trooper Mark Francis says the two teens who were killed were 15 and 18-years-old.
Francis says the two other teens rushed to hospital were 17-years-old.
He says the 34 year old driver of the black SUV who struck the teens just North of Bellingham has been charged with two counts of vehicular homicide and two counts of vehiicular assault.
Francis says the driver, who was coming home from work, may have fallen asleep behind the wheel.
The crash was witnessed by other students in the P-E class from Windward High School in Ferndale
