When it comes to memorizing sports minutiae, the Insane Memory Guy has total recall… almost.
In a video posted to YouTube earlier this week, Insane Memory Guy, also known as Taylor Condrin, recites every NBA player’s height, weight and school or country of origin from memory.
As a friend reads each player’s name, Insane Memory Guy lists off the stats.
As mentioned, Insane Memory Guy made one mistake. He wrote in the description of the clip that he made one unintentional mistake and asked viewers to name it.
A YouTuber correctly pointed out that Insane Memory Guy appeared to botch the college of Udonis Haslem. Insane Memory Guy said “Miami, Florida,” perhaps to distinguish it from Miami of Ohio.
Haslem actually attended the University of Florida.
NBA Fan Shows Off Incredible Memory by Rattling Off Info About Every Player
Before you write off Taylor’s talent, think about just how crazy this is. There are 30 teams in the league, and each team is allowed to have 15 players on the roster.
That’s a lot of information to memorize.
While speaking with CKNW’s Simi Sara, Taylor says that he realized he had an incredible memory at the early age of four.
“When I was 4 years old, I use to collect basketball cards… I would look at the back of the cards and I would memorize the heights, weights and colleges of all of the players. My mom came upstairs one time and said, “hey, what are you doing?” … after a while she realized what was going on. She asked me if I had these memorized… so I asked her to test me. So we went through the whole box – it was like 400 cards – and I only missed one out of the 400. So at age four I was already doing this.”
