You won’t be seeing any slot machines on a BC ferry anytime soon.
The provincial government has cancelled plans for a pilot project to allow gambling on the ships in an effort to boost revenues.
Transportation Minister Todd Stone says a review, with input from BC Ferries and the BC Lottery Corporation, has determined the venture would actually lose money.
The estimated cost of adding more staff and equipment is nearly a quarter million dollars.
Plans are now in the works to expand gift shops and move coffee shops to different locations on the vessels.
