Right before the close of business on a Friday afternoon, the Clark government comes out with a significant announcement: An overhaul for the office of the Auditor General for Local Government.
Improving communication is seen as a big goal.
Government wants strengthened governance and accountability.
The government is currently locked in a fight with the former Auditor General, Basia Ruta.
Ruta was dismissed in March after she lashed out at the government for reviewing her work and said the former deputy minister appointed to lead the review could be biased.
She has gone to court, filing a petition against government, trying to get her job back.
