The BC Liberals have responded to the latest claims by the NDP they deleted emails linked to Freedom Of Information requests.
In a statement, Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizen’s Services Amrik Virk says should the Information and Privacy Commissioner require more information, they will fully cooperate and expects all documents kept will be in accordance with the FOI Act.
But — he does say that emails are treated differently depending on whether they are transitory or not.
According to the government website those emails are not part of administrative or operational records and only important to complete a task or prepare a document.
Virk is responding to claims by NDP MLA Doug Routley, in which he says during Virk’s time as Minister of Advanced Education, his office deleted emails.
