Amanda Todd’s mother says she is shocked and disturbed someone appears to have stolen a memorial plaque in honour of her late daughter.
Carol Todd says the stone reads “a beautiful soul is never forgotten” and was placed in the garden shortly after Amanda took her own life in October 2012.
“It got me a little sad and a little upset, so then I posted on Facebook today that I was shocked how someone could remove it from my garden, and from there it went viral.”
Todd says the plaque is not expensive, but has great sentimental value.
She hopes the publicity will encourage a thief to have a heart and return it.
She says she is still listed in 4-1-1 and believes the culprit could be aware of its sentimental value.
“With that, can also come the negative. So, I wasn’t quite prepared for some of that negative, that it would actually come across in real life, like I’ve gotten some backlash and horrible stuff through social media, but in real life, it was kind of surprising.”
A 35 year old man from the Netherlands was arrested last year and is facing charges in BC of extortion, Internet luring, criminal harassment and the possession and distribution of child pornography.
He allegedly black-mailed Amanda- which led to her suicide.
