Still shackled to a three-year cell phone contract? You can now break those chains.
Wednesday is being called Cell Phone Freedom Day.
Canada’s Wireless Code of Conduct comes into effect for everyone, including the two to four million Canadians who have three-year phone contracts.
They can now cancel those agreements without paying huge fees.
It’s a move initially challenged by Canadian wireless carriers, but the Federal Court of Appeal tossed that case out earlier this year.
Other perks of the wireless changes include caps on roaming charges for data, the right to unlock your phone, and the ability to return your phone within 15 days without penalty.
