It’s a great weekend to be on a boat, but it’s also a good time to be at a barbecue; so why not do both at once?
That’s the idea from Joe DeKeyser, the owner and director of Joe’s BBQ Boat Corp, which will allow customers to take a self-guided tour of False Creek while grilling up their favourite summertime eats.
“The idea is quite simple. You just take your party crew on the boat, you boat yourself, rent it out, cruising through False Creek. And when you like the view, you just toss the anchor and you barbecue whatever you feel like on the barbecue boat.”
It sounds like a great idea at first blush, but how safe is the concept?
“These boats are very safe. All of our boats are sea certified, so there’s no higher certification you can get throughout the world. And our boats are obviously not just a little floating dingy, these boats are actually made of fibreglass. You need a lot before you’re going to be melting down fibreglass like this.”
DeKeyser told The Jill Bennett Show though like any vessel on the water, alcohol is still prohibited.
