A forest fire near Indian Arm is continuing to burn as fire crews and the Vancouver Police Department work to put it out.
Reports of the fire started coming in earlier this morning, and it is burning at an abandoned Buntzen Lake Power Station.
CKNW traffic reporter Ellane Scollan is on the scene.
“We’ve got a lot of smoke in the area…it’s hard to tell if there’s more than one location. It kind of looks like there’s more than one location where the fire is.”
Scollan reports that a helicopter is working on putting out the fire as well as Coast Guard crews.
The BC Wildfire Management Branch says it hasn’t yet taken over operations but is assisting the Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department.
The Vancouver Police Department’s marine unit tweeted it was assisting with the blaze.
Still too early to tell what caused the fire, but witnesses say they saw people camping in the area last night.
