The Mayor of Surrey is echoing her counterpart in New Westminster, calling for lower tolls on the Port Mann Bridge while disruptive work is being done on the Pattullo next year.
Linda Hepner says she will advocate for the provincial government to provide some relief to commuters forced to take the Alex Fraser, or the Port Mann, while Translink reduces Pattullo traffic to one lane in each direction, and a full closure on nights and weekends, during the 18-month construction period.
“There should be some recognition that a major route option, that has been severely limited, and it will be severely limited for some time, some eighteen months, so I think there needs to be some kind of relief for users.”
Upgrades on the seventy-eight year-old bridge will begin in mid-2016.
