After a couple of bothersome days, maybe that’s too strong. Perhaps there were a few hours of inconvenience for Sepp Blatter who ended up on stage in Zurich dancing and clapping, as the disgraced President of FIFA was elected to serve an unprecedented fifth term.
The vote would not have happened if Blatter did not think he had the support.
Come on, do you think change at FIFA could happen that quickly?
In his acceptance speech, the 79 year-old delivered this gem. “You can’t just ask people to behave ethically just like that.”
If you do not think the overlord of world football doesn’t have any juice or pull? How about this dandy of a quote from the man that conceded defeat. Prince Ali bin al-Hussein of Jordan. “He thanked all the people who were BRAVE enough to support me.”
I hope the folks who did not vote for Blatter are not looking over their shoulders for the rest of their lives.
It will be interesting to see if he shows up in Canada for the Women’s World Cup. Canada and the USA voted against him.
There is no way he would do any media.
Would the United States Justice Department try and extradite Blatter is he lands on our soil?
Just think of the reception he will get on July 5 at a sold out BC Place, if he deems us worthy to have the opportunity to watch him present the trophy to the winning country. If not massive BOOOS, perhaps a 60,000 strong throng of people chanting “Shame.”
Prediction. He’ll have a soccer ball size tummy ache.
