As the voting draws to an end for the transit plebiscite, Vancouver’s mayor says it was a challenge to get the ‘Yes’ message out.
“The mayors have worked really hard across the region to get the information out and that’s been a real challenge given the complexity of our transit plan and all the competing information in the world.”
Gregor Robertson also calls the mail-in ballot “unique and challenging.”
“It may have excluded some people particularily younger people who have never mailed anything in their life but 45% is a decent turnout given the circumstances.”
Robertson says he’s “cautiously optimistic” the yes side will win but he says it’ll be an anxious wait for the results.
The voting period ends at 8pm Friday night.
Any ballots recieved by Elections BC after that will not count.
