A natural gas line ruptured during a construction project and caused a headache for residents and motorists near Cambie and 7th.
Vancouver Fire Rescue’s Captain Brian Hutchinson says a four-storey residential building and neigbouring businesses had to be evacuated.
The Cambie Street Bridge was also closed Southbound.
“Fortis BC is on scene, and their work crews have excavated and clamped the gas line. Our hazardous materials team is assessing the air quality, before we allow residents back into the building.”
However the situation resolved itself around 11:30am and the traffic situation has since returned to normal.
