A salmonella outbreak has sickened 34 people in B.C., Alberta and Saskatchewan.
“We’ve had 13 individuals here in BC who have become infected with salmonella because they’ve had contact with live poultry.”
Marsha Taylor with the BC Centre of Disease Control says all 13 victims in B.C. came in direct physical contact with chicks from an Alberta hatchery, and all are recovering.
Two are in the hospital.
She says the hatchery is contacting all of its customers to warm them of the infected chicks.
