As Bike to Work Week gears up, Surrey’s growing cycling community is getting a lesson in bike safety.
“Love it Lock it” organizer Shawn Feddes says dozens of people have come out to learn about how to prevent their bikes from getting stolen.
“Over the last couple years, we’ve noticed an uptick in theft at some of the recreations centres and libraries, we wanted to do an education event…how to properly lock your bike and how to keep it secure, and some of the things you can do to prevent theft.”
“The big thing is to invest in a high quality U-lock, and do some home research…watch some YouTube videos, we’ve also put together a brochure on how to properly lock your bike.”
Feddes says so far dozens of people have come out to learn about how to keep their bikes safe.
