A shooting in broad daylight at Coquitlam Centre this afternoon was just meters away from a Heart and Stroke fundraiser.
Police tape surrounds a black suburban with multiple bullet holes visible on the driver’s side door.
Events co-ordinator Shelley Lycan says shots rang out in the parking lot just after 3pm.
“And I heard the first pop and I thought to myself, ‘that’s a gunshot.’ And it went ‘pop pop pop pop pop!’ Six pops I think. And I said, “that’s shooting. Somebody’s been shot.” And she says, “are you sure that’s not just construction,” and I said, “I’d know gun shots when I heard it.'”
Lycan says the male driver of a black suburban was shot in the arm, while the female passenger, clearly in shock, asked her for a band aid.
The witness says the victim described the suspect vehicle as a white or grey BMW.
Police say the victim suffered non life threatening injuries.
Coquitlam RCMP is searching for suspects in what they say is a targeted shooting.
No bystanders were hurt.
