BC Citizens for Recall says it’s had to stop its recall campaign against Maple Ridge-Mission MLA Marc Dalton.
Group spokesperson Jennifer Heighton says the reasons for ending the recall are two-fold.
She claims the group has been harassed by campaign observers.
And the recall’s leader is dealing with a very ill family member in another province.
“So the canvassing itself, yes, that could be done by her team while she’s gone, but when there’s issues like this she has to deal with, and Elections BC says it’s only the proponent who can do those things, she thought, no – she just can’t do it.”
Heighton says the proponent is the only person allowed to file complaints on behalf of a recall campaign.
Elections BC says there are no administered regulations for observers.
