It was meant to be a fun way to include the public in naming three new BC Ferries vessels.
But it looks like a online naming contest has backfired.
After years of fare increases and reductions to sailings, it’s not a surprise some people are not happy with BC Ferries.
The corporation launched a Name a Ferry contest online…and the most of the suggestions aren’t too flattering.
The rules for the contest, which closes June 9th, say the name should be gender neutral, not geography specific, and should not contain words currently used in current BC Ferries vessel names.
Yet judging by suggestions such as the Spirit of the WalletSucker, the Monopoly Queen, Coastal Fare Hike and Queen of Incompetence – the contest appears to have invited the wrath of its ridership instead.
