With just over a week until the last ballots in the transit plebicite are cast, an annual commuter race through the streets of Vancouver shows which mode of travel is the fastest.
Of the 11 teams racing a car, bike and transit rider against each other – the cyclists won.
On the City of Vancouver team, Councilor Andrea Reimer came in first on transit, the Mayor was next on his bike and Councilor Kerry Jang dead last in his car.
“I was stuck in traffic a little bit. The nice thing about a car is you’ve got a stereo in there and a convertible so you know I really got to soak up the sun and enjoy myself but it’s not a great way of getting around when you have to.”
All three are continuing to make the push for people in Metro Vancouver to vote yes the plebicite.
Saying while the transit system is good, it needs a financial boost for improvements.
