“She was a really happy kid, always smiling, and her sister was easily her best friend.”
The father of a 15 year old girl who died in a car accident on Mother’s Day is speaking out about dangers of the intersection she was killed at.
Katelynn was killed in a two vehicle accident on the Haney Bypass last Sunday.
Her father Jeff says the intersection – near Callaghan Avenue – is not at all a controlled and is extremely dangerous.
“Just standing there on the side of the road was scary, just seeing how messed up that intersection is. There is so much traffic coming down the Haney Bypass at Lougheed Highway that there’s rarely any openings for people to turn left.”
Struchtrup is hoping to appeal to the city of Maple Ridge to install lights or a stop sign at the intersection.
The accident is still being investigated by Ridge Meadows RCMP, and they are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
Before Katelynn was taken off life support earlier this week, her family made the difficult decision to donate some of her organs.
Her father says he is glad some good can come out of this tragic situation.
“To be able to do this was a gift for me and the families, like something good will come out of this so.”
The fifteen year old’s kidneys and liver helped save the lives of three other patients.
