Is there a link between major resource development and missing and murdered women?
The world’s largest human rights organization is investigating in Fort St. John and Fort Nelson.
Amnesty International Spokesperson Craig Benjamin says the environmental impact assessment process for projects like Site C, should take into account social issues.
“The pace of resource development, the reliance on very large numbers of outside workers has had the effect of driving up housing prices, it has created a huge gap between the size of the population needing services and the services that are available in the local communities, there is also huge wage gap between men and women.”
Benjamin says it’s been granted intervener status in the federal case against Site C.
He was speaking at an anti site-c event in downtown Vancouver Wednesday night.
