A convicted murderer on the run for a month-and-a-half is now behind bars.
Mounties were on the hunt for 43-year-old Shawn Merrick, ever since he walked away from his Mission prison at the end of March.
But thanks to tips from the public, he is back behind bars.
Police say he was arrested in Langley Wednesday night, without incident.
Accused in robberies
Earlier this month, police made a plea for tips, alleging Merrick was responsible for a string of robberies in Surrey and Langley since his escape.
And in an unusual move, the Canadian Bankers Association put out a 10-thousand dollar reward for tips leading to Merrick’s arrest and conviction.
Aside from being back in custody , Merrick is also facing six new robbery charges.
