The weather’s taking a turn for the better, but BC Ambulance Service wants to remind parents and people who might be entertaining children to keep a careful watch on their windows and balconies.
Marilyn Oberg from the BC Ambulance Service says window screens don’t keep children in, and should be secured with a window lock.
She also reminds people with balconies to move patio furniture and planters.
“If you’ve got your patio furniture that is lined up where kids can stand on them, and all they’re doing is something innocent like standing and waving… that can create a terrible situation.”
Oberg says people should do ‘safety audits’ of their homes at least once a year, to make sure their homes are safe for children.
