What will become of the old Canada Post building on Vancouver’s Georgia Street? A hotel could be a possibility.
An application is going before council to consider rezoning the site to increase density to accommodate additional commercial and residential floor space.
That could include office space and even a hotel along with retail, restaurants and condos.
City staff say any redevelopment should respect the significant heritage values of the post -1940 building.
The site bound by Georgia, Homer, Dunsmuir and Hamilton Streets is 50-thousand square feet in size and council’s been told it could also support an office tower as a stand-alone building.
Recently, the Post Office relocated to a site near the airport.
