Hours after a Vancouver woman’s sister was killed by a suspected drunk driver in Calgary, her family started turning their grief to good deeds with remarkable results.
In the three days since Caitlin Lavallee’s sister Jillian and the driver of the cab she was in, Amritpal Kharbanda, lost their lives – a fundraiser she started has raised $20,000 and its increasing by the hour.
Here’s the catch — the money is not for her family but for Kharbanda.
Caitlin writes this tragedy not only deprived us of Jillian, but is depriving Kharbanda’s wife and two girls of the centre of their world.
She says the Jillian Lavallee Legacy fund will let her sister’s unselfish heart live on.
Part of the money will also go to MADD Canada.
