A British-based medical aid group says the massive earthquake in Nepal has devastated the country’s infrastructure and health system.
The group Doctors of the World says Nepal’s fragile health care system has now collapsed entirely.
Executive Director Leigh Davies says 80% of Nepal’s hospitals outside of the capital Kathmandu have been destroyed by the quake.
Davies says with over 16-thousand earthquake related injuries, thousands of people now living in the street and the local health care system is completely overrun.
He says medics in the country are in desperate need of more supports.
Davies says this is a crisis about to get worse with monsoon season only weeks away and Nepal’s infrastructure in tatters.
The death toll in the quake continues to rise, with over 7500 people confirmed killed.
