The Canadian Bankers Association is offering big bucks to help track down a convict suspected of robbing Metro Vancouver banks.
RCMP are looking for 43-year-old Shawn Merrick from Vancouver wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.
They consider him dangerous.
Police say Merrick escaped from the minimum security Mission Institution at the end of March, where he was serving time for second degree murder and robbery.
Since then he is wanted on two robberies that happened in Surrey mid-April and is suspected in a number of other robberies in Langley.
The Canadian Bankers association has put up 10-thousand dollars for tips leading to his arrest and conviction.
The association’s Security and Intelligence Manager Malcolm Chivers hopes the money will push someone to give up Merrick.
Chivers says since 1999 they’ve offered 20 similar awards and paid out five.
“The reward does not expire. It stays on the books when we offer it until we close this case,” says Chivers.
Merrick described as white, 5’8, 140 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.
