With the Canucks out in the first round of the playoffs, the Floyd Mayweather/Manny Pacquiao fight should give local bars a bump.
But BC Restaurants association spokesperson, Ian Tostenson says it doesn’t look too good for restaurants.
“Traditional restaurants that are waiting for customers to come in, they could actually be negatively impacted by a fight of this magnitude. People are going to stay home or go to a bar.”
Tostenson says those that offer delivery options will likely see an upswing in business.
“I think the big winners tonight are going to be the bars in British Columbia. It is an expensive proposition to bring the fight in and feed it in. And you want to almost have a theatre like environment to watch this thing.”
The match starts at 8 PM in Las Vegas.
