Britain has a new princess.
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, has given birth to her second child.
The princess will be fourth in line for the throne after Princes Charles, William, and George.
The birth happened early Saturday morning at the same hospital where Prince George was born in July 2013.
Here at home — Vancouverites are waking up to hear a little girl is the newest addition to the Royal Family.
One local royal watcher hasn’t been able to turn away from the TV all morning.
“My guess is that they already know what the name is going to be.”
West Vancouver royal watcher, Roddy MacKenzie says he expects we will hear what the name is within the next two days.
“Victoria is one name a lot of people would like. And Elizabeth of course is a phenominal name. I’m curious as to whether the name Diana might become one of the names.”
“The Royal family doesn’t have very many girls, Princess Anne has two daughters but essentially it’s overwhelmingly male and so this is a wonderful development.”
The baby girl was born 8 pounds 3 ounces and healthy.
