After days of rioting and unrest in Baltimore, the announcement by Maryland State’s Attorney that all six officers involved in the arrest of Freddie Gray are now facing criminal charges.
According to a recent New York Times article article, a state law in Maryland gives exceptional protections to police officers in the event that a prisoner suffers death or injury while in custody. One such protection is that complaints must be filed within 90 days, even if the complainant is unable to do so because of injury.
