The troubled office of the Auditor General for Local Government has released its third report.
This one, into the District of Sechelt’s handling of plans for a new wastewater treatment plant and a road paving project.
The audit expresses concern with the way Sechelt procured contractors for both projects.
In particular, it says the District cannot show that the bidding process was conducted in a fair and open manner.
It also notes insufficient direction and oversight of the project’s steering committee.
In terms of the paving project, the audit says there’s no evidence of consultation with affected community members.
This is just the third report the trouble office has released.
Last month the province fired the auditor for municipal spending.
Basia Ruta released two reports after two years, with office budgets of more than five million dollars over the same time span.
