A black bear that spent the morning roaming around a South Vancouver neighbourhood is now on his way to being relocated.
Resident Atvar Sandhu says Conservation officers cornered and tranquilized the animal in his backyard.
“He was being chased by police officers. He probably wanted to hide and get into my dog’s pen. I don’t know.”
Sandhu says he often sees racoons and coyotes, but never before a bear.
It was 4am when the animal was first seen at 49th and Knight.
Officers tranquilized the bear just before 9am on East 53rd Avenue.
