Vancouver police had to get all their ducks in a row this weekend.
Someone reported on Sunday afternoon that a mother duck and nine ducklings were out on the ledge of the third-floor patio at the VPD’s Cambie Street headquarters.
Police say the eggs were likely laid on the rooftop garden and remained hidden until it was time to fly the coop.
Officers corralled the ducklings into a box and took it down to the street, towards False Creek.
The mother duck followed, and after diverting some traffic, cyclists and a dog or two, the family was reunited at the water’s edge and released.
