Leaders of Metro Vancouver’s Nepalese community are meeting tonight to try and find out how they can help friends and families devastated by this morning’s 7.8 magnitude quake.
Anil Pradhan – president of the Nepali Cultural Society of BC – says the group planned to meet after a wave of concern from community members.
“Nepalese people are very very worried, so they are calling me and trying to do something for Nepal.”
Pradhan describes the devastation wrought in his home country. With details of the aftermath still sketchy — the president of the Nepali Cultural Society of BC says the community is desperate to get involved.
“Try to find out what we can do – so for example fundraising and that kind of things – and with the Canadian government what is the easiest way we can help.”
Pradhan says the group is looking into ways to fundraise – as well as partner with the Canadian government – to get help to the stricken country.
