While Canada’s Health Minister is saying there’s a negative effect associated with marijuana, one researcher says that’s not entirely correct.
Researcher and doctor at UBC, Thomas Kerr is claiming the government is being selective in its attention to science.
“Minister is either just out the loop or being somewhat disingenuous”
Kerr says there are benefits when it comes to the use of marijuana by the public.
“It’s really not accurate to say there isn’t evidence about effectiveness of cannabis. And really we should be adding it to the list of strategies we use to help deal with problems.”
He says the government is being dishonest in its representation of the types of scientific evidence it doesn’t like – evidence backing marijuana’s benefits being one of them.
