“My bedroom door here just started creaking as if someone were pushing on it.”
That’s Greg Martin, the Mayor of Queen Charlotte Village in Haida Gwaii, after a 6.1 magnitude earthquake just before 7 this morning.
Local shop manager Julie Robinson wasn’t too worried either.
“It was, uh, pretty minimal for sure.”
And the Mayor says everything’s okay.
“I’ve heard no reports of damage, all is calm, all is well.”
He says the town is as prepared as it can be, and the quake is just a part of living there.
