Three months into their campaign to get people to vote yes to a new transit tax, Metro Vancouver mayors are updating what they’ve done and what is left to do before next month’s voting deadline.
The mayors’ council says they’ve connected with more than 155,000 people at 162 events so far.
But Gavin McGarrigle with the Better Transit and Transportation Coalition, supported by labour, business and students, says there’s a long way to go.
“We have intention of quitting or scaling back our efforts until May 29th. We’re now working on putting on some more events and we’re also looking at some more focused advertising.”
McGarrigle says they’re hoping to see the 15-per-cent return of ballots so far go up greatly by the end of May.
So far, no word on what they mayors have spent on their campaign, but it has been revealed they have up to $6 million.
